President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Vice President of the Republic of Malawi Michael Biswick Usi, who arrived in the country to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
The Vice President of Malawi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and invitation to participate in the international conference. He noted the high level of organization of the forum, the main goals of which are to develop joint solutions in the field of sustainable development and strengthen international cooperation. Michael Bizuik Usi conveyed greetings to the head of the Turkmen state from the President of Malawi Lazarus Chakwera.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked for the kind words and conveyed his best wishes to the leadership of the friendly country. He expressed confidence that the conference held on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea will become the basis for the development of transport and transit corridors, strengthening interregional cooperation and expanding economic opportunities.
“Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations with various countries, including African ones,” the head of state said, noting the Turkmen side’s readiness to use all opportunities to build up political, diplomatic, trade and economic ties with the Republic of Malawi.
The parties stressed the importance of intensifying interaction within international organizations, primarily the UN. The opinion was expressed that the visit of the Vice President of Malawi will be an important stage in interstate relations, and the meetings held will contribute to filling bilateral cooperation with concrete content.
The meeting participants noted the existence of great potential for establishing contacts in the fields of energy, agriculture, healthcare, education and scientific research.
Following the talks, the President of Turkmenistan and the Vice President of Malawi confirmed the commitment of both countries to expanding cooperation and wished each other success in their government activities.
