The sports drama “Formula 1”, released by Apple Original Films and starring Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, has set a new box office record for the actor's career. According to the American industry publication Deadline, the film's worldwide revenue reached 546,6 million USD.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film, which opened in U.S. theaters on June 23, surpassed Pitt's previous most successful project, the zombie thriller “World War Z”, which grossed 540 million USD worldwide.
The film's biggest profits came from China (55,1 million USD), the UK (28 million USD), France (26,7 million USD), South Korea (24 million USD) and Mexico (19,3 million USD). IMAX screenings brought in an additional 84,7 million USD worldwide.
