Within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC), the Civil Society Forum continued its work in the format of thematic sessions. As reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the focus was on the session "Digital Economy, Innovation and Sustainable Development", where participants discussed the importance of digital transformation to achieve inclusive and sustainable development in the context of rapidly changing technologies.
Experts and government representatives stressed the need for equal access to digital technologies, infrastructure development and increased security of digital networks. Particular attention was paid to supporting innovative ecosystems that stimulate start-ups and the introduction of advanced technologies, which contributes to increased productivity and improved service quality.
The Forum also considered the possibilities of using transformational technologies, such as artificial intelligence and blockchain, in implementing the Avaza Action Programme. This programme is aimed at eliminating infrastructure barriers related to the geographical location of LLDCs and creating conditions for improving the efficiency of public administration, improving access to education, healthcare, and simplifying logistics and trade.
In this context, Turkmenistan has identified universal access to digital and mobile services as one of its priority tasks. The country is implementing large-scale projects to create a modern communications system using advanced technologies, aimed at expanding the quality and range of services, including providing Internet access to residents of the most remote areas. This approach contributes to sustainable development and the integration of landlocked developing countries into the global economy.
