In Turkmenistan, a technology has been developed for producing an alginate composition from blue-green and brown algae of the Caspian Sea.
As reported by "Turkmenistan: Golden Age", the developers are the Biotechnology Laboratory of the International Scientific and Technological Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
Alginates extracted from brown algae are widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries due to their biocompatibility and ability to form gels. Adding blue-green algae to their composition enriches the material with valuable compounds.

The new composition is intended for use in biomedicine for wound healing and tissue engineering, where active oxygen release can significantly accelerate the regeneration process.
In addition, the development has great potential for use in the food industry and cosmetology, the source notes.
