French startup Invitin offers newlyweds a new way to cover the costs of their wedding celebration — selling tickets to their wedding to strangers. The project has already attracted the attention of international media, becoming the first such platform in Europe, vc.ru reports.
The service has been in operation since early 2025, and as of August 4, nine weddings are available for booking on the Invitin website. The cost of a single ticket ranges from 80 to 150 euros, and the number of available seats ranges from four to 20, depending on the event.
The platform allows newlyweds to view profiles of potential ticket buyers, allowing them to choose their future guests. Ticket buyers, in turn, agree to adhere to certain rules: dress code, arrive on time, do not post photos without permission, and drink alcohol in moderation.
The startup's founder Katya Lekarski noted in an interview with The Guardian that the project is at an early stage of development. In her opinion, Invitin will help couples partially offset the growing costs of wedding celebrations. The service charges a 20% commission for each ticket sold.
The idea of selling wedding tickets is not entirely new. In India, the JoinMyWedding project has been successfully operating for several years, allowing tourists to purchase tickets and participate in traditional Indian wedding ceremonies, gaining a unique cultural experience.
The French platform positions itself as a way to "join unforgettable wedding celebrations all over France, meet new people and enjoy cultural exchange."
