The Parliamentary Forum, held within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC), opened in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

The event was organized by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Office of the High Representative of the United Nations for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States in cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The main objective of the representative forum is to facilitate the exchange of experience between parliamentarians and to develop recommendations for legislative bodies of landlocked developing countries on the development of specific measures to include the priorities of the Programme of Action for the Decade in legislative activity.

Participants of the event will be able to share practices in implementing the Vienna Programme of Action and promote accelerated implementation of the Avaza Programme of Action through political activities of parliamentarians at the local, national and regional levels.

LLDC parliaments have a key role to play in the upcoming implementation of the New Deal with the challenges posed by their geographic location. Parliamentarians ensure transparency, accountability and inclusiveness in the implementation of the Decade of Action, serving as an important link between government, civil society and international partners.

The forum is attended by leaders and representatives of government agencies and parliaments of landlocked developing countries, as well as representatives of international organizations.
