The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Turkmenistan reported on its website that the Federal Foreign Office of Germany has decided to abolish the possibility of filing an appeal against the rejection of visa applications worldwide from July 1, 2025.
This decision is based on the results of a pilot project carried out in many German visa offices, which tested the possibility of abolishing the appeal procedure for both Schengen and national visas from 1 June 2023.
The evaluation of the results showed that, thanks to the abolition of the appeal option, significant human resources were freed up in the visa departments to process a larger number of visa applications. Thus, compared to the same period of the previous year, more applications for both national and Schengen visas were processed and waiting times were reduced.
The Embassy notes that adequate legal protection remains ensured in the future, as the abolition of the possibility of filing an appeal does not affect the statutory right to go to court. In addition, all applicants have the opportunity to reapply at any time if their visa application is rejected.
