China has introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of 75 countries, either unilaterally or by mutual agreement, within the framework of efforts to streamline visa regulations and facilitate international exchanges, Wang Zhizhong, director of the National Immigration Administration, said at a press conference on Wednesday, Xinhua reported.
From 2021 to 2025, visa-free transit opportunities through China have expanded significantly. The number of countries whose citizens can take advantage of this opportunity has increased to 55. The number of entry checkpoints into the country has grown to 60, covering 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government.
In addition, the maximum period of visa-free transit has been extended to 240 hours (10 days), which makes travel planning much easier for foreign citizens.
According to Wang Zhizhong, the measures taken have significantly simplified visits to China for foreign tourists, businessmen and other categories of travelers.
“Many foreign guests were able to gain an understanding of the real and multifaceted China based on personal experience,” the head of the department noted.
