US President Donald Trump intends to withdraw the United States from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), White House press service representative Anna Kelly reported, as reported by The New York Post.
"President Trump has decided to withdraw the United States from UNESCO, which supports progressive, divisive cultural and social causes that are completely at odds with the commonsense policies Americans voted for in November," an administration spokeswoman said.
According to the publication, in February, Trump ordered a 90-day review of the organization's activities, with a particular focus on its political course.
The White House emphasized that the current US administration pays close attention to the country's membership in international organizations and monitors its compliance with America's national interests.
