Saudi Arabian football club “Al-Hilal” has decided to withdraw from the 2025/26 Saudi Arabian Super Cup. This was reported on the team's official website.
The reason for the withdrawal was the need to provide the players with a full rest after participating in the Club World Cup, which was held in the United States. “Al-Hilal” reached the quarter-finals of the tournament, where they lost to Brazilian “Fluminense” on July 4.
After the tournament ended, the team was forced to stay in Orlando for three extra days due to air travel restrictions. This reduced the players' vacation from the planned 24 to 21 days, although the players are contractually entitled to 28 days of annual vacation.
"The main objective of withdrawing from the tournament is to ensure the health and readiness of the players for the training camp and the rest of the domestic competitions after a long and intense season during which “Al-Hilal” proudly represented the country at the Club World Cup," the club said in a statement.
The Saudi Arabian Super Cup will start on August 19. The tournament will feature “Al-Ittihad”, “Al-Nasr” and “Al-Qadisiya”. “Al-Hilal” has won the last two editions of this tournament.
