The laboratory of the "Balkan" Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant has begun destructive testing of welded parts, as reported on the website tmrl.gov.tm.
Destructive testing of welded parts is a method of checking the quality of a welded joint, in which the sample is subjected to mechanical, chemical or physical tests leading to its destruction. The tests are carried out on the basis of certificate No. 7.1.4.3 of the Classification Society of the Russian Federation "Russian Maritime Register of Shipping", issued on May 12, 2025.
Currently, the laboratory has the ability to conduct the following types of tests:
- Testing of specimens for static tension.
- Testing of longitudinal cylindrical specimens for static tension.
- Testing of specimens for static bending.
- Testing of specimens for static fracture.
- Testing of specimens for impact bending.
- Testing of specimens for hardness measurements.
- Testing of specimens for control of macrosections.
Let us remind that at present, the "Balkan" shipyard, together with the shipbuilding company Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd. of the Republic of Korea, is building two dry cargo ships with a carrying capacity of 6100 tons, which meet international standards.
