Belarusian "Torpedo-BelAZ" midfielder Teymur Charyev received congratulations from his teammates on the Turkmenistan national team after his debut in the Conference League. The 24-year-old footballer became the first representative of Turkmenistan in European competitions in eight years.
Charyev entered the field in the 67th minute of the match against the Macedonian team "Rabotnicki", which the Belarusian club won with a score of 3:0. The meeting took place on July 10 at the "Haladas" stadium in the Hungarian city of Szombathely.
"It's not just the fans who congratulate us, but also the guys from the national team. All our friends write, congratulate us, and wish us luck in future games," Charyev said in an interview with the club's press service.
During the match, the Turkmen midfielder demonstrated a spectacular feint in the style of Zinedine Zidane. "It was improvisation. You could say the moment prompted it. It's great that I managed to dribble like that," the player commented on his technique.
Charyev noted the differences between European and Asian football. "There is a lot of fighting and high intensity here. In Asia, they work more with the ball," the midfielder compared the tournaments.
Goals for "Torpedo-BelAZ" were scored by Pavel Sedko (12th minute), Vadim Pobudey (63rd) and Stefan Alfred (90+2). Charyev moved to the Belarusian club in February of this year.
The return match will take place on July 17 in Macedonia. The last time a representative of Turkmenistan appeared in European competitions was in July 2017 – Ruslan Mingazov played 15 minutes as part of the Czech "Slavia" in the Champions League qualifying match against the Belarusian BATE.
