Ankara has been chosen as the tourism capital of the Turkic world in 2026. This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
The corresponding decision was made at the 10th meeting of tourism ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG). The organization includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan. Turkmenistan and Hungary have observer status.
“Ankara is one of the rare cities that reflects the common memory of the Turkic world with its rich heritage, museums, art institutions and cultural diversity,” Minister X wrote on social media.
According to him, this ancient capital, located in the heart of Anatolia, will now become a cultural and tourist showcase not only for Türkiye, but for the entire Turkic world.
“We will open Ankara together in 2026 and continue to unite the values of our capital with our brotherly nations,” Ersoy noted.
This year, the tourist capital of the Turkic world is the city of Jalal-Abad in Kyrgyzstan.
