Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has confirmed his participation in the first Central Asia – European Union summit, which will be held in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) on April 3-4, the press service of the EU mission in Ashgabat reports.
On Thursday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy – Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas in Ashgabat. She chaired the 20th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting, which brought together representatives of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
During the meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in key areas, including energy, communications, sustainable development and education. The head of state emphasized Ashgabat's interest in developing multilateral cooperation with the European Union.
