The head of the 4 Day Week Foundation, Joe Ryle, notes that the traditional five-day work week, which appeared a hundred years ago, has lost its relevance in modern conditions. In his opinion, a shortened schedule contributes to an increase in both the level of employee happiness and their productivity.

However, not everyone shares this approach. Large American corporations such as JPMorgan Chase and Amazon adhere to a conservative position, requiring employees to be in the office for five days.

According to Spark Market Research, it is the younger generation that is pushing for change in the workplace. Among Britons aged 18-34, 78% believe that a four-day working week will be the standard within five years. At the same time, 65% of this age group do not want to return to a full presence in the office.

Lynsey Carolan, Managing Director of Spark, emphasizes that the young professionals who will shape the labor market in the next half century decisively reject outdated models of work organization. She also notes that this generation prioritizes mental health and general well-being, so they perceive a four-day working week as a significant advantage that directly affects the quality of life.
