Scientists have named the most “depressing” and “happiest” times of day

A study of 2 500 people found that people are in their worst mood at 5 am. This was reported by MIR 24 with reference to PLOS Digital Health.

Experts from the University of Michigan (USA) explained that a person's mood naturally fluctuates throughout the day, reaching a minimum in the morning and a maximum in the evening. These fluctuations are independent of your sleep schedule, but sleep deprivation can significantly worsen mental health.

“If a person hasn’t slept all night, then at 5 am his mood will be worse than that of someone who just woke up. However, in any case, the mood at 5 am will be lower than in the evening,” explained the study authors.

At the same time, 5 pm was named the “happiest” time of day.

During the two-year study, researchers observed 2 602 intern doctors. Participants wore smart devices that tracked their heart rate, steps and sleep schedule. They also rated their mood daily on a scale from 0 to 10.

The study results revealed mood dips and peaks at 5 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively. It was also found that the participants' mood worsened during prolonged wakefulness.
