The 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Ashgabat today, chaired by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, member of the Council of Elders of the OTS Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The holding of the meeting in the capital of Turkmenistan indicates the country’s active position in developing constructive cooperation with the OTS.
Since 2021, Turkmenistan has observer status in the Organization of Turkic States. The member countries of the OTS are united by common historical roots, cultural and spiritual traditions with the Turkmen people. The current meeting of the Council of Elders, the advisory body of the OTS, has become a significant contribution to strengthening friendly interstate relations and multifaceted cooperation.
The meeting was held in Ashgabat at the initiative of the Turkmen side. This high-level event demonstrates Turkmenistan’s desire to expand partnerships with Turkic-speaking countries within the framework of an authoritative regional structure.
