Charles III will be crowned in the mantle of his grandfather on the throne of the XIV century

During the coronation of King Charles III of Great Britain, the throne of King Edward II, who ruled more than 700 years ago, will be used, Reuters reported, citing a source from Buckingham Palace.

The robes in which King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will be crowned also have their own history: the king will wear the robe of his grandfather, George IV, and the queen will wear a robe that was once sewn for Elizabeth II.

The coronation will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. The celebration in honor of this event will last two more days. Among the planned events are a big concert with the participation of world music stars, a dinner on the occasion of the coronation and a charity event.
