A cooperation program for 2023-2025 was signed between “Russian Railways” JSC (RZD) and the “Turkmendemiryollary” Agency (“Turkmen Railways”), which also includes the development of the railway and related infrastructure of the transport complex of Turkmenistan.
The document was signed within the framework of the intergovernmental commission on Russian-Turkmen economic cooperation held on December 6-7.
According to the trade representative of Russia in Turkmenistan Alexander Elizarov, out of 10 bilateral agreements signed at the meeting, this program is one of the main ones, reports TASS.
Elizarov specified that the program involves large-scale interaction between the parties. In particular, the Russian holding will assist in the training of specialists, the digitalization of production processes and work in the field of logistics for the development of transport corridors, as well as the electrification of the railways of Turkmenistan.
As Elizarov noted, “we expect tangible results in this area next year”. At present, working groups will be created within the framework of this program.
