Turkmen tennis player Isa Mammetgulyev, who is a representative of the national tennis team of Turkmenistan, took part in the M15 Cairo tournament as part of the ITF World Tennis Tour in Egypt. The $ 15,000 tournament is taking place in the Egyptian capital from September 4th to 12th.
Among the tournament participants are representatives of different continents, including Brazil, USA, Australia, Russia, Armenia, Spain, Austria, France, India, Thailand, Algeria and other countries.
Mammetgulyev made it to the third round of qualifying, defeating Francesco Scarpa from Italy (6-0; 6-0) in the first round, and Karim Ibrahim from Egypt (7-6) in the second.
In the third round on September 6, Mammetgulyev lost to Lucio Carnevalle from Argentina (4-6; 1-6).
Isa Mammetgulyev, 24, is studying in Slovakia. In 2019, he represented our country in the fourth group competitions in Jordan. Mammetgulyev trains at the tennis academy of Dominica Cibulkova (the most famous sportswoman in Slovakia, who at one time was one of the five strongest tennis players on the planet) in the city of Bratislava. Today he is the only athlete in our country who has a rating in the Asia-Pacific region (1401 place).
