As per preliminary forecasts of the scientists, 2021 will be shorter of the previous year in connection with the acceleration of the Earth’s rotation, informs RIA Novosti with the reference to All-Russian scientific research institute of physical, technical and radio engineering measurements.
Earlier in the media, there were materials that due to the acceleration of the Earth's rotation in 2020, the 28 fastest days in the history of observations were recorded, and the day of July 19 was shorter than usual by a record 1.4 milliseconds.
The Institute’s representatives approved this information and noted that the year of 2021 can be even more shorter. This is possible in case of preservation of current indications, informs the source.
