Today, the “Turkmen Railways” Agency held a video conference with the participation of the head of the representative office of the national railway company of Kazakhstan in our country and the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan, where priority issues of activating transport and transit corridors of interstate and regional significance were discussed.

According to the State news Agency of Turkmenistan, during the meeting, an interested exchange of views took place on the promotion of existing intergovernmental agreements, as well as on the prospects for cooperation in the transit and transport sector.

Special attention was paid to the functioning of the Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan-Iran transnational corridor as an important link between Europe and Asia, as well as the “North-South” railway, including a number of joint measures for its operation.

The parties discussed pricing policy in order to effectively use the capacity of international transit corridors, increase the volume of railway container transport and expand their geographical borders. The importance of establishing close contacts in the field of logistics, which ensures stable cargo transportation in various directions, was noted.

In addition, Turkmen specialists informed about the implementation of the project on modernization and electrification of the Turkmenbashi-Ashgabat-Mary-Turkmenabat railway section. In this regard, the parties confirmed their readiness to discuss new plans for cooperation in this direction.
