Political consultations between the ministries of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey were held today in the format of a videoconference.
The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Hadjiev, and the Turkish delegation was headed by Director of the Central Asia and Caucasus Directorate of the Turkish foreign Ministry Yonet Jan Tezel.
The diplomats considered options for cooperation on the situation with the coronavirus pandemic, including measures to counter its spread. They also discussed the impact of the pandemic on trade and economic relations between the two countries, in particular, cargo flows and transport.
The parties noted the role of the Interstate Turkmen-Turkish Commission for economic cooperation and the Turkmen-Turkish business Council in coordinating actions to restore economic activity. Issues related to energy and the establishment of transport and transit corridors were discussed.
Further development of cultural and humanitarian relations, issues of interaction in the field of science and education were also in the view of diplomats, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
