The President of Turkmenistan received the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, who had arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit.

The Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and noted that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to developing good-neighborly relations with Turkmenistan. He conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the head of the Turkmen state and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, and also shared his impressions of Ashgabat's architecture.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the warm words and asked that reciprocal greetings be conveyed to President Tokayev. He emphasized the importance of the consultations between the two countries' foreign ministries taking place during the visit, expressing confidence that their outcomes would contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral ties.

As noted at the meeting, relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are built upon long-standing ties of friendship and good-neighborliness between the peoples of the two countries. Turkmenistan is interested in further expanding interstate relations based on the principles of equality and mutual respect.

The parties also coordinate their efforts in international forums—such as the UN, the OSCE, the CIS, and the Economic Cooperation Organization—as well as within the framework of consultative meetings of Central Asian heads of state and the "Central Asia Plus" format.

The interlocutors noted the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission on Economic, Scientific-Technical, and Cultural Cooperation, the latest meeting of which was recently held in Astana. In their assessment, the Commission’s work contributes to the expansion of mutual trade, investment, and joint projects.

Particular attention was paid to cultural and humanitarian cooperation, specifically interaction in the fields of education, healthcare, science, culture, and sports.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Yermek Kosherbayev exchanged best wishes, expressing confidence in the further strengthening of Turkmen-Kazakh relations in the interests of the peoples of both countries.
