Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov concluded his state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the trip, the head of state visited the cities of Fuzuli and Shusha, held talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and signed a package of bilateral documents.
According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, on the second day of his visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov flew from Baku to Fuzuli, where he was met by Aliyev. The two presidents inspected the city's new construction projects, including a mosque being built as a gift to Azerbaijan at the initiative of National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The heads of state then headed to Shusha, stopping en route at the Dashalty Plain. In the city, they toured a new residential complex, a mosque under construction, and visited an exhibition dedicated to Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev, the Shusha Fortress, and the house-museum of the singer Bulbul. The exhibition was presented by Polad Bulbul oglu, who was awarded the honorary title of People's Artist of Turkmenistan for his contribution to strengthening bilateral cultural ties.
On the Jydyr-Düzü plain, Aliyev presented the head of Turkmenistan with a Karabakh horse named Mert. Serdar Berdimuhamedov accepted the gift as a symbol of the inviolability of Turkmen-Azerbaijani friendship.
Following the talks in Baku, the parties signed a Joint Statement and a package of bilateral documents. These included agreements on cooperation in energy, food security, and economic development, as well as memoranda of understanding in healthcare, agriculture, labor and social protection, sports, and finance. A program of cooperation in industry for 2026-2028 and a program of interaction between the ministries of foreign affairs for 2026-2029 were signed.
The Azerbaijani side donated the oil tanker Dostluk to Turkmenistan, which Serdar Berdimuhamedov described as a symbol of fraternal relations between the two peoples.
During the talks, the parties agreed to intensify cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, including within the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye corridor, and to develop a Caspian Sea-Black Sea route in the direction of Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania.
The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to supply electricity to Azerbaijan and proposed holding a meeting of the Caspian states in October 2026 in the “Awaza” zone.
