In Turkmenistan, 116 people were accepted into postgraduate programs and for academic degrees from January to May

In Turkmenistan, 116 people were accepted into graduate programs and for advanced degrees in the first five months of 2026, and 31 doctoral and candidate dissertations were defended. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Mammedov during a government meeting where he presented a report on the performance of the agencies he oversees for the first five months of this year, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

During the period under review, efforts to modernize the education system continued, employing cutting-edge teaching methods. Schoolchildren and students participated in international subject competitions, including online, winning a total of 871 medals. International Olympiads and scientific conferences were held, and measures were taken to organize summer holidays.

Advanced prevention and treatment methods were consistently implemented in healthcare. Surgeries and treatments for children were funded by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation. During the reporting period, the National Strategy for the Development of Scientific and Medical Diplomacy for 2026–2052 and the National Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases for 2026–2030 were also approved.

Turkmen athletes, having competed in international competitions, won a total of 301 medals.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of properly organizing activities in science, education, healthcare, and sports. The head of state instructed that efforts be continued to stimulate talented youth's interest in science and new technologies, improve medical facilities, and engage the younger generation in sports.
