Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with the head of Tatarstan

National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with Raisin of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation) Rustam Minnikhanov in the Kazan Kremlin, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

The meeting was held in two stages: first, one-on-one talks, followed by an official meeting with members of the delegations of both sides. Before the talks, the heads of the delegations toured the Kazan Kremlin.

Welcoming the distinguished guest, Rustam Minnikhanov expressed gratitude to the National Leader for accepting the invitation and described the current visit as an important event, confirming the inviolability of friendly relations and strategic cooperation between the two sides. He also highlighted the large-scale reforms initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and continued under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, conveying his greetings and best wishes to the head of Turkmenistan.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in turn, emphasized that participation in international forums organized in Kazan has become a good tradition for Turkmenistan, and conveyed greetings from the President of Turkmenistan to Minnikhanov. He also warmly congratulated the head of Tatarstan and the people of the republic on Kazan's designation as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2026.

During the talks, the parties discussed the status and prospects of bilateral cooperation in key sectors. In the oil and gas sector, the successful partnership with Tatneft was noted: Turkmen and Tatarstan specialists are jointly implementing innovative hydrocarbon production methods using environmentally friendly technologies. In the industrial sector, KAMAZ's long-standing work in the Turkmen market was highlighted, including the development of a network of training and service centers throughout the country.

Digitalization and high technology were a key topic during the talks. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov praised Tatarstan's experience as one of Russia's IT leaders and expressed interest in expanding cooperation through technology parks and introducing digital solutions into Turkmenistan's economy. The parties also discussed the development of transport logistics, noting the importance of regular flights between Ashgabat and Kazan as a key factor in intensifying business and humanitarian contacts.

Significant attention was given to humanitarian cooperation. Thousands of Turkmen students are currently studying at leading higher education institutions in Tatarstan. The parties emphasized the need to further strengthen direct contacts between educational institutions of the two countries. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed holding the finals of the "Tatar Kyzy - 2026" competition in Ashgabat. Minnikhanov supported this proposal.

Following the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that the visit would make a significant contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's visit to Kazan is timed to coincide with his participation in the 17th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum–2026."
