Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on the construction of a new pumping station and seawater desalination plant for the Turkmenbashy oil processing complex, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.
According to the decree, the state-owned concern “Türkmennebit” is authorized to use its own funds to enter into a contract with “Nur Mimar” for the design and construction of the Kenar pumping station and desalination plant in the city of Turkmenbashy in the Balkan region. The facility will have a daily capacity of 15 thousand cubic meters of water.
Construction work is scheduled to begin in June 2026. Commissioning is scheduled for June 2029.
The project's goal is to improve the supply of purified water to the country's oil refineries.
