Turkmenistan and Georgia discussed priorities for trade and economic cooperation

The V meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Ashgabat today, the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The Turkmen side was led by Nazar Agakhanov, Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, and the Georgian side was led by Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The parties focused on intensifying trade and economic ties, with transportation, energy, and the oil and gas sectors identified as priority areas. They also discussed increasing mutual trade, stimulating investment activity, and creating favorable conditions for interaction between the two countries' business communities.

In terms of transport and logistics, the development of the international corridors "Caspian Sea - Black Sea" and "Lapis Lazuli Corridor" was discussed, as well as the effective use of the transit potential of port infrastructure.

Following the commission's work, the co-chairs signed a final protocol, formalizing the agreements reached and outlining specific steps for implementing promising joint projects.

During the Georgian delegation's visit to Ashgabat, meetings were held between the heads of relevant ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan and Georgia.
