Bahrain will not be able to host the 2026 World Wrestling Championships. A new venue will be determined soon, Mikhail Mamiashvili, President of the Russian Wrestling Federation, announced in an interview with TASS.

The competition was originally planned for the capital, Manama, from September 5 to 13.

According to Mamiashvili, five or six countries have expressed interest in hosting the tournament. "Many are ready to host it, which speaks to the tournament's level," he noted.

The federation's head clarified that the contenders include Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, which already has experience hosting the Asian Wrestling Championship. Several European countries have also expressed their willingness to host the competition. However, Mamiashvili believes it is most likely that an Asian country will host the championship, as the tournament was originally assigned to the Asian region.
