A Turkmen delegation led by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Perhat Yagshiyev met with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 82nd session of ESCAP in Bangkok.

Noting the constructive nature of their multifaceted interaction, the parties focused on the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at expanding the transit potential of Turkmenistan and the ESCAP region.

Turkmenistan's active position in advancing the climate and environmental agenda was emphasized. Particular attention was paid to the President of Turkmenistan's initiative to establish a Regional Center to Combat Desertification in Ashgabat as a specialized ESCAP institution for Central Asian countries.
