Turkmenistan invited CIS countries to the CIS summit in Avaza

Turkmenistan invited CIS member states to actively participate in the preparation and holding of the CIS Heads of State Summit. This was announced by Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov during a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in Moscow.

"The year will culminate in the CIS Heads of State Summit, which will take place on October 9, 2026, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenistan. We take this opportunity to invite you to actively participate in its preparation and implementation," he said.

Gurbanov also reaffirmed Ashgabat's commitment to further developing cooperation within the CIS based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and consideration of the interests of all member states.

The meeting participants discussed a wide range of pressing international issues, as well as cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In 2026, the chairmanship of the CIS bodies passed from Tajikistan to Turkmenistan.
