In the same year, on the initiative of the “Great Silk Road” group of companies, a new logistics and transport Department was opened within the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan in order to develop and implement measures for the development of the country's transport and logistics sector.
On March 27, 2018, the Turkmen Logistics Association, established by the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and the Great Silk Road group of companies, begins functioning. Its main objective is to protect the interests of Turkmen freight forwarders both in the domestic and international markets, development of transport and logistics sector as well as provision of advisory services.
In order to improve the efficiency of the entire logistics sector of the country, in the second half of 2018, by the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, a "Transport and logistics center of Turkmenistan" iwas founded. Its shareholders are the state Agency "Turkmendemirellary", "Turkmenavtoyollary", "turkmenkhovayollary", "Turkmenatlary", "Turkmendenizderyayollary", the State insurance organization of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen Logistics Association, which owns a 30% stake.
In mid-2019, the IP "Beýik Ýüpek Ýoly" successfully passed the certification of the quality management system according to the ISO 9001:2015 standard, organized by Intertek. And in February of this year, as part of the agreement between the IE "Beýik Ýüpek Ýoly" and SGS, it is planned to conduct a certification audit in accordance with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
A wide range of services by road, rail, sea and air includes: technical development of the project; transportation of General, dangerous, perishable, oversized and heavy cargo; consolidated transportation; courier services; brokerage services; transshipment in ports; storage; Agency of sea vessels; registration of permits in the aspect of oversized, heavy cargo; route research, construction of bypasses (detours); cargo control throughout the route; timely and safe delivery of cargo to the destination.

Specialized machinery has 80 gondola cars and 160 cars indoor type, 5 units of special hydraulic trailers carrying up to 130 tons, 24 pieces of modular hydraulic axles Combimax carrying up to 250 tons and 96 units of modular SPLIT hydraulic axles to transport super heavy loads up to 1000 tons.
The fact that the “Great Silk Road” group of companies has implemented an investment project to restore and modernize the Turkmen bulk carrier "Balkan" with a capacity of 3,680 tons is worthy of special mention. Since 2018, the ship is managed by the Great Silk Road group of companies, and is intended for transportation of containers up to 176 TEU, as well as bulk and project cargo.
