U.S. Government Sponsored Exchange Programs in Turkmenistan
Fulbright Program
The Fulbright Program is the highest level academic exchange program and provides the opportunity for experienced scholars, researchers and academicians from Turkmenistan to lecture and do research in a U.S. university.
Fulbright Science and Technology Award for Outstanding Foreign Students
The International Fulbright SciTech Award for Outstanding Foreign Students awards 3-5 year Ph.D. scholarships to candidates who demonstrate unique aptitude and innovation in scientific fields. Candidates will go through a rigorous selection process, and awardees will be placed at top U.S. universities for Ph.D. study (past placements have included Brown University, California Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of California at Berkeley, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Stanford University).
William J. Fulbright Master’s Degree Student Program
The Fulbright Program provides opportunities for outstanding Turkmen graduates and mid career professionals to pursue studies in a two-year master’s degree program beginning in academic year 2010-2011. US Embassy accepts applications in all disciplines and fields. Preference will be given to candidates who have not studied in the U.S.
Studies of the United States Institutes (SUSI)
Studies of the United States Institutes are six-week academic programs for multinational groups professionals. The Program promotes a better understanding of the United States among teachers, scholars and other relevant foreign audiences, whose professional responsibilities center on, or are informed by, the study of the U.S. society, culture and institutions. Candidates should have an excellent command of English.
Hubert Humphrey Fellowship
The Hubert Humphrey Fellowship program brings accomplished mid-level professionals in leadership positions to the USA for a year of non-degree academic study and the opportunity to build professional ties.
Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA)
Provides secondary school teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States through a six-week professional development program at a U.S. university.
Cochran Fellowship Program
The Cochran Fellowship Program, sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture, offers a two-week training program in the U.S. for agricultural specialists both from state and private sectors.
Edmund Muskie Graduate Program
Provides opportunity for citizens of NIS who have Bachelor’s degree to travel to the USA for degree or non-degree programs. Fellows are enrolled in a one-year, 18 month, or two-year program.
Eurasian Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD)
Offers a one-year non-degree program of study in the USA for 1st and 2nd year students (3rd year students if in a 5-year program) who are enrolled in Turkmenistan higher education institutions.
FLEX
FLEX program provides scholarships to secondary school students to live in an American host family and to study in an American high school for one academic year.
Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP)
The Junior Faculty Development Program is an open competition exchange program focusing on young university teachers. It provides them a chance to improve their pedagogical skills, and to work on issues such as curriculum and teaching materials development.
Open World Program
Open World is an exchange and partnership program designed to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between Eurasian and American leaders. It builds the groundwork for such cooperation by bringing young Eurasian civic and political leaders to the United States to work with their American counterparts during 10-day professional visits.
Undergraduate Intensive English Language Program
The Office of Academic Exchange Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is soliciting applicants for a new short-term exchange opportunity for the summer of 2011 – The Undergraduate Intensive English Language Study Program (UIELSP).
