On July 7, Brussels hosted an expert round table of the Brussels Energy Club on the topic of medium-term prospects for gas imports to the EU and strategies of exporting countries. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium made a report on the directions of the country's energy policy and the possibilities of cooperation with the European Union, the embassy's press service reported to Turkmenportal.

The event discussed the prospects for the implementation of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline as one of the possible routes for the supply of Turkmen gas to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor. Work on the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline project, the construction of which is already underway in Afghanistan, was also noted. In 2024-2025, Turkmenistan signed gas export agreements with Türkiye, Iraq, Azerbaijan and Hungary, providing for both direct supplies and swap deal mechanisms.

Particular attention was paid to the development of the gas processing industry within the country. Turkmenistan is developing projects for the production of polymers, fertilizers, synthetic fuels and other end products, which creates opportunities for technological interaction with European companies and investors.

The founder of the Brussels Energy Club, Marat Terterov, noted the high potential for cooperation with Turkmenistan and emphasized the importance of the annual international conference "Oil & Gas of Turkmenistan" in Ashgabat as an important platform for dialogue between Turkmenistan and international partners. The participants of the event noted Turkmenistan's readiness for a constructive dialogue in the field of sustainable energy, reducing methane emissions and developing new export routes.

The Brussels Energy Club is an expert platform in Brussels that brings together energy experts, energy companies, think tanks, media and officials from European institutions. The Club exchanges views on energy security, sustainable development and global energy trends.
