A literary evening dedicated to the life and work of one of the prominent representatives of Turkmen classical literature of the 18th century, Gurbanali Magrupi, was held in the Scientific Library of the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly.
During the event, first category librarian Aigul Allaberdieva presented some information about the life of Gurbanali Magrupi.
The poet's full name is Gurbanali, and Magrupi is his nickname. As is known, Magrupi was from the Magrupi tribe of Yemreli Turkmens. Magrupi is known as the author of several lyrical poems and epics. Among them: "Yusup-Ahmet", "Seypelmelek-Medkhaldzhemal", "Dovletyar-bek", "Aly-bek and Baly-bek".
Then, the university students recited the poet’s poems.
The evening was dedicated to the Day of Culture and Art Workers, as well as the poetry of Magtymguly, according to the website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
