Ashgabat native, former Russian national team midfielder Rolan Gusev has joined the coaching staff of the new head coach of Moscow “Dynamo” Valery Karpin. This was reported on the official website of the football club.

Gusev was born on September 17, 1977 in Ashgabat. He began his football career at the age of seven in his hometown, then continued in the youth team of Moscow “Dynamo”, from where he subsequently made it to the main team.

The most successful period in the midfielder's career was the years he played for CSKA, where he moved from “Dynamo” in 2002 following Valery Gazzaev. As part of the "army men", Gusev won three gold medals in the Russian championship, four Russian Cups and two Super Cups. His main achievement was winning the UEFA Cup in 2005, when CSKA beat Portugal's “Sporting” in the final with a score of 3:1.

Karpin was appointed head coach of “Dynamo” last week, combining the job with his work as coach of the Russian national team. He previously headed “Rostov”, which he left in February of this year.

Since May, Gusev has been acting head coach of “Dynamo” after the dismissal of Czech specialist Marcel Licka.
