On June 25, the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan held a meeting between Minister Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan Ravshanbek Alimov. This was reported on the website of the ministry.
The parties discussed key areas of further cooperation in the field of education and science. The priorities noted included: expansion of the contractual and legal framework between higher education institutions of the two countries, development of academic exchange of students and teachers, implementation of joint educational programs.
The Uzbek side expressed interest in studying the Turkmen experience in the field of educational process management and digital management. It was also proposed to intensify bilateral cooperation between public and private higher education institutions, as well as an initiative to organize a fair of universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Turkmenistan, which will help expand opportunities for applicants and develop academic ties.
The parties paid special attention to holding rectors' forums and youth scientific conferences, creating startup incubators and organizing hackathons with the participation of students and young professionals. The importance of sharing access to digital educational platforms was also emphasized.
In addition, the possibility of participation of schoolchildren and students of the two countries in international Olympiads and competitions was considered. The Turkmen side noted with satisfaction the successful performance of the Uzbek team at the International Mathematical Olympiad held in April 2025 in Ashgabat, where the participants won 17 medals of various denominations.
At the end of the meeting, the Turkmen side invited representatives of educational and scientific institutions of Uzbekistan to take part in the International Exhibition and Scientific Conference “Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Renaissance of a New Era of a Mighty State”, which will be held in October in Ashgabat in a hybrid format.
