More than 2 thousand foreign citizens from different countries passed through checkpoints in Turkmenistan, which have been switched to a 24-hour mode of operation due to the mass transit of people leaving Iran. This was reported by the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
According to the department, these are citizens of Central Asian countries, Russia, Korea, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Great Britain and other countries.
The Turkmen authorities ensure unimpeded passage of foreign citizens through the country's land corridors, as well as their transit through the Ashgabat International Airport for further travel to their destination, the Foreign Ministry noted.
In total, about 50 countries have currently approached Turkmenistan with a request to provide assistance for the passage of their citizens leaving Iran.
