Astronomers have discovered a new exoplanet in the constellation Herculis, which has been designated 14 Herculis c (14 Her c). The celestial body is seven times more massive than Jupiter, making it one of the most massive gas giants among known exoplanets, MIR24 reports.

The planet orbits a sun-like star located 60 light years from Earth. According to preliminary estimates, 14 Her c is about 4 billion years old, which is comparable to the age of our solar system.

One of the key characteristics of the planet discovered is its relatively low temperature. According to the researchers' calculations, the surface temperature of 14 Her c is about -3 degrees Celsius. This makes the planet significantly colder than most known gas giants, which typically have temperatures in the hundreds of degrees due to their close proximity to their stars.

The discovery of 14 Her c expands astronomers' understanding of the diversity of planetary systems in the Universe and could provide important insights into the formation and evolution of massive planets in different stellar environments.
