Honored bagshy Kerven Yovbasarov and master zerger Shazada Orazberdyev represented Turkmenistan at the VIII World Festival "Epics of the Peoples of the World", which was held in Kyrgyzstan and dedicated to the 130th anniversary of manaschi (folk storyteller) Sayakbay Karalaev. The festival brought together famous singers and storytellers from Altai, Kalmykia, Dagestan, Tuva, Yakutia, Khakassia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, France and Turkmenistan on one platform.
An international exhibition of decorative and applied arts and folk art was organized for the participants and guests of the festival.
Within the framework of his participation in the forum, Kerven Yovbasarov performed fragments of the epic "Georogly", and jeweler Shazada Orazberdyev presented a collection of women's jewelry.
The festival program included tasting of national cuisine, viewing of the play "Taitoru" at the Kyrgyz National Theater "Manas", screening of the feature film "Song of the Tree". Also, within the framework of the festival, international competitions "Best Yurt", "Nomad Style", "Best Storyteller" were held, an International Symposium on the topic "Universal Nature of the Epic: Typology and Basic Ethnic Models" and other events were organized.
Over the course of three days, fragments of outstanding epics and destans, poetic poems and tales were performed on the central square, revealing the unique flavor of each nation.
