President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Federal Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ahsan Iqbal, TDH reports.
During the meeting, it was stated that relations between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, based on the principles of friendship and mutual respect, are developing dynamically in all key areas, including political and diplomatic, trade and economic, energy, transport, educational and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The parties emphasized that trade and economic ties are one of the priorities of interstate cooperation. In this context, the need to use the existing potential to increase the volume of mutual trade and expand cooperation in strategic sectors of the economy was noted.
As emphasized, Turkmenistan is carrying out targeted work to bring its energy resources to the world market and attaches particular importance to the successful implementation of projects to build the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, and to lay the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line and fiber-optic communication line.
“These projects are designed to contribute to the sustainable development of not only the economies of our countries, but also to ensuring energy stability in the entire region,” the head of state noted, confirming Turkmenistan’s readiness to strengthen relations with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and support new initiatives in this direction.
