President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Asad Majid Khan, TDH reports.
As noted, cooperation with the ECO is one of the key vectors of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. Over the many years of interaction, positive experience of partnership with this Organization has been accumulated. In this context, it was noted that there are broad opportunities for developing mutually beneficial cooperation with ECO member states in such areas as trade and economics, energy, transport, ecology, tourism and culture.
Supporting the initiatives put forward within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Turkmenistan takes an active part in the implementation of mutually beneficial projects. The country attaches great importance to the development of relations with the ECO in the trade and economic sector and, especially, in the energy sector. In this regard, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the readiness of Turkmenistan, which has huge reserves of natural gas, to diversify the supply of “blue fuel”, including building up partnership in this area with the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

“The favorable geographical location of Turkmenistan serves as a solid foundation for the development of the transport and logistics sector. Of great importance in this area is the formation of the interconnectedness of all modes of transport. In this regard, effective work is underway to create international transport corridors of multi-vector and regional significance North-South and East-West,” the head of state said, confirming his readiness to consider specific proposals for projects related to the formation of transport and transit corridors.
