Pakistani Planning Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary arrived in Turkmenistan on an official visit to participate in the first Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) forum on sustainable development.
The visit is part of Pakistan's broader commitment under the URAANPakistan initiative to promote regional cooperation, sustainable development and economic integration. Immediately upon arrival in Ashgabat, the minister visited the Pakistani embassy where he met with diplomatic staff and representatives of the Pakistani community, according to Page X of Pakistan's Ministry of Planning and Development.
The forum is attended by high-ranking representatives of ECO member states, international organizations, as well as diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan and national ministries.
The aim of the forum is to strengthen partnership in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the ECO. Participants will discuss practical steps to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and develop a cooperation strategy, identifying priority areas.
Following the forum, it is planned to adopt an official document that will become the basis for further steps in the area of sustainable development of the region.
