The Turkmen-Turkish business forum “Turkmenistan and Türkiye: Modern Directions of Economic Cooperation” was held in the city of Afyonkarahisar, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Türkiye, the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission reported.
The event, which took place in the building of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Exchanges of the city, brought together more than 100 heads of Turkish companies and representatives of the non-governmental sector with the aim of revealing the investment potential of Turkmenistan.
In his speech, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Türkiye Mekan Ishangulyev emphasized that the country takes a responsible approach to the development of international trade partnership based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and trust.
The forum noted that Turkmenistan actively supports the development of the private sector and the attraction of foreign investment, providing various benefits and favorable conditions for doing business. The country's commitment to the introduction of environmentally friendly and green technologies in all sectors of the economy was separately emphasized.
The participants discussed promising areas for Turkish investment, including the petrochemical industry, the agro-industrial complex, the transport and logistics sector, telecommunications and information technologies. A video about the investment potential of Turkmenistan was shown during the forum.
During the visit to Afyonkarahisar, the Turkmen delegation also held a series of meetings with the region's leadership. Ambassador Ishangulyev met with the head of the city administration Kubra Guran Yigitbashim to discuss cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres.
Negotiations were also held with the director of the regional industrial zone, Bekir Yesilaya, on promising areas of bilateral relations in the areas of trade and investment.
In addition, the ambassador held meetings with the rectors of two local universities - Mehmet Karakaş from Kocatepe University and Nurullah Okumş from Afyonkarahisar Medical University, where they discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture, as well as expanding partnership between educational institutions of the two countries.
