The first special beach for visually impaired visitors has opened in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. This important initiative was implemented as part of the state program to ensure accessibility of public spaces for all categories of the population, reports russianemirates.com.
The new beach is located on the Corniche embankment in the Gate 3 area and occupies an area of 1000 square meters.
A visit to the beach is organized free of charge for both visually impaired people and one accompanying person. The infrastructure includes special tactile paths with paving throughout the entire walking area, and information signs are equipped with inscriptions in Braille.
Safe access to the bathing area is provided by a fenced path with a guide rope and sound beacons at the end points. The beach has a special swimming area under constant supervision of professional lifeguards, accessible to visitors of all ages.
The beach infrastructure includes convenient ramps and paths for the elderly and visitors with special needs, adapted restrooms, special floating chairs for comfortable entry into the water, free drinking water points and designated parking spaces.
The beach is open daily from 6am until midnight, with swimming only permitted until sunset. A licensed medical professional is on duty throughout the day to provide emergency assistance if needed.
