The United Arab Emirates is launching a project to create a new generation of air transport infrastructure. At the 2025 World Government Summit in Dubai, the launch of a program to develop air corridors and a regulatory framework for manned and unmanned air taxis, as well as cargo drones, was announced. The project is expected to be implemented within 20 months, russianemirates.com reports.

A consortium of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Abu Dhabi Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) divisions - Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and Aspire - has been created to implement this initiative. The project envisages the creation of a single air route network that will link international airports and strategic locations across the country.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, stressed that mapping air corridors will be a key step in developing the future transport system. According to him, this initiative will not only ensure the safe integration of air transport into the existing infrastructure of the UAE, but will also lay the foundation for a revolutionary change in the field of urban mobility, bringing closer the era of smart cities.
