Turkmenistan seeks to contribute to the increased efficiency of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), said Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov during a meeting with ECO Secretary General Asad Majid Khan. This was stated in a statement by the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
“During the meeting, an interested exchange of views took place on the current state of multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ECO, and ways for further development of the partnership were outlined. It was noted that the positive experience of joint work accumulated over the past years serves as a reliable basis here. The Minister emphasized that Turkmenistan seeks to contribute to the increased efficiency of this multilateral structure,” the statement said.
It is noted that one of the priority areas of cooperation is the transport sector and border trade. In this context, the importance of the Framework Agreement on Transport and Transit, as well as the Trade Agreement of the Organization, was noted. The interlocutors discussed issues of holding joint seminars and trainings.
Special attention was paid to partnership in the field of sustainable development. Asad Majid Khan proposed to organize events in Turkmenistan in the field of sustainable development in the first half of 2025.
