Prolonged snowfalls in Japan led to tragic consequences: one person died and nine were injured. A particularly difficult situation has developed in the Hokuriku region, where the snow cover reached 130 centimeters in just 24 hours, "MIR 24" reports.
The disaster seriously disrupted transport links. About 150 flights were cancelled, trains and electric trains were disrupted, and roads became impassable. Approximately 800 households were left without electricity.
To combat the consequences of bad weather, emergency services were mobilized, and volunteers and students were involved in snow removal. Local authorities are coordinating rescue and recovery efforts. According to meteorologists, snowfall will continue until the end of the week.
