National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan Akihisa Nagashima, who arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit.

As reported by TDH, during the meeting, the active dynamics of friendly Turkmen-Japanese relations in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, social, cultural-humanitarian and other fields were noted. In particular, the consistent, sustainable and long-term nature of bilateral economic cooperation was emphasized, in maintaining which a significant role is given to the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation. As is known, the 15th meeting of the Committee was held in Turkmenistan in December last year: then new vectors were set for expanding bilateral partnership.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the special attention paid in Turkmenistan to the diversification of routes for the export of “blue fuel” and the development of the specialized processing industry, taking into account the colossal reserves of natural gas on its territory.

As is known, large Japanese companies have been fruitfully working in the gas industry and chemical industry of our country for many years. Products manufactured at production facilities built jointly with Japanese partners occupy a large niche in Turkmenistan’s exports: they are in growing demand on the domestic market and abroad.

Among the successfully completed similar projects were the polymer plant in Kiyanly, the urea plant in Garabogaz, the plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas in the Ahal velayat and the Maryazot plant.

In turn, Nagashima expressed sincere gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for providing favorable conditions for the constructive work of Japanese commercial organizations.

During the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that a number of major projects are being implemented in Turkmenistan jointly with Japanese companies and confirmed our country’s readiness to build up targeted partnerships.

In April of this year, the Japanese city of Osaka will host the World Expo 2025, and Turkmenistan is interested in participating in it: the relevant measures are currently being taken by a specially created Organizing Committee.

Emphasizing the importance of cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished success in holding the first Summit of the Dialogue “Central Asia + Japan” and the World Expo 2025.

During the meeting, the enormous role of cultural and humanitarian dialogue in strengthening interstate ties, as well as in bringing peoples closer together and enriching their cultures was noted.

In this regard, the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized the issues of partnership in the field of education. At the Engineering and Technology University named after Oguz Khan is taught the Japanese language, and it is necessary to continue constructive targeted cooperation, as well as organize mutual Culture Days, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.
